Yes, I’m procrastinating. I just completed some business for the Ancient City Romance Authors (ACRA) chapter of RWA, of which I’m president. And now that that’s done, I just don’t seem to be able to get started writing today, so I decided to come here and chat with all of you instead.
Speaking of ARCA, let me take a moment to do a short commercial for my chapter. We’re in the midst of planning our biggest event of the year, THE FICTION WRITERS’ BOOT CAMP. This year, we have two excellent Drill Instructors (Speakers): Patricia Potter who has published 28 novels and won numerous awards for them, and Joyce Holland, author and agent. Joyce is an Associate Agent with D4EO Literary who is anxious to find that new star and will be taking author pitches at the Boot Camp.
Aside for two fabulous speakers, there will be raffles galore: books, theme baskets, critiques by published authors and proposal evaluations by editors and agents. The special raffle will be for an Acer Aspire Netbook. Registration price includes everything I’ve mentioned and a fabulous buffet lunch at the crown Plaza Hotel in Jacksonville, FL.
It’s a no-business-suit, relaxing, fun day geared for the published and unpublished. For more information, visit the ACRA website at: www.acrarwa.com and click on Writers Boot Camp. Hope to see you there!
Along with the excitement of the upcoming Boot Camp, there’s the anticipation of another RWA National Conference in Orlando, FL at the Dolphin and Swan Resort, right on Disney property. I always love going to these conferences because, along with some really good workshops, I get to visit with friends that I only get to see once a year. Since writers lead a very solitary existence, it’s always a treat to get out there in the world and chat with people in the same profession.
As for my books, I’m still working on HAWKS MOUNTAIN, and have some very special plans for it that I’ll share after I go to Orlando and speak with my editors at Belle Books. So stay tuned!
Until then . . .
Blessings,
